DCWD distributes Apo Agua’s bulk water to customers

Davao City Water District announces that it has already started distributing the bulk water supply to customers following Apo Agua Infrastructura, Inc.’s completion of the critical infrastructures needed to deliver safe and reliable water to DCWD. This pivotal development is a key component of the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project (DCBWSP), harnessing the  Panigan- Tamugan River as a sustainable surface water source to significantly augment DCWD’s water supply.

As of December 1, 2023, following the  preparations and interfacing activities for the DCBWSP, DCWD commenced supplying the bulk water to its Calinan, Tugbok, Riverside, Dumoy, Cabantian, and Panacan water supply systems (WSS). Prior to the distribution, Apo Agua together with DCWD have verified that the water quality meets the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water, the benchmark for water safety in the country. Apo Agua – the builder of the state-of-the-art bulk water facility that includes a 300 MLD water treatment plant with a 70 km pipeline, also guarantees sustainable delivery of quality bulk water supply to six (6) DCWD water supply systems.

With the commencement of Apo Agua’s bulk water supply to DCWD, water supply availability and pressure have since significantly improved, especially in areas that have been experiencing intermittent water supply. DCWD has also started accepting new service connection applications in more areas effective January 1, 2024. These areas include the following:

  • All areas in Panacan WSS: Sasa, Panacan, Ilang, Tibungco, Bunawan, and Lasang
  • All areas in Cabantian WSS: Cabantian, Communal, and Indangan
  • Most of Dumoy WSS: Sasa, Pampanga, Lanang, Bajada, Buhangin, Indangan, Mandug, Agdao, and Downtown Proper

While systems integration activities for Apo Agua and DCWD are currently ongoing, operational adjustments for distribution are simultaneously being carried out to expand the reach of the bulk water supply and benefit more customers.  These adjustments will also address isolated cases of low water pressure to no water. Customers are reminded to immediately report any water supply and quality concerns that they might experience throughout the duration of the operational adjustments as these may be isolated cases that need additional interventions.

For any DCWD concerns, the public is advised to contact its 24/7 call center landline hotlines (235-3293 and 244-6767), text support (0927-798-8966, 0908-441-0653, and 0925-511-3293) and chat support in DCWD’s website (www.davao-water.gov.ph) or Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/officialDCWD).
